FDTD Field Strength Prediction for Mobile Microcells

For the built-up macro and microcell widely used semi empirical or empirical models fails for the case if the MS height is near to the rooftop level. In such cases only empirical height correction can be applied which has to be determined for every propagation scenario. This article shows the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method for this case with which a precise solution of Maxwell's equation can be given but only for limited size geometries because of its height memory requirement. To illustrate the method a comparison is made for a small cell size profile with the COST 231 model
