Enhanced Robustness of RZ WDM Systems Using Tunable Pulse-Width Management at the Transmitter

We demonstrate single channel and 4times10-Gb/s WDM system optimization using tunable pulse width management for RZ formatted signals. Varying the pulse width from 50 ps to 10 ps using a phase modulator and a tunable dispersion element at the transmitter can double the transmission distance with a 4% variation in the residual link dispersion
