Interaction and integration in power line design

An integrated, interactive environment for the structural and geometric design of power lines is described. New design concepts that achieve greater economy are introduced. The environment, developed on MS-DOS microcomputers, is the result of an international effort. A three-dimensional GIS-type representation of the terrain was adopted and described. Four different methods available to describe the strength of a structure in a structure file are detailed. Line installation, view functions, and reports, drafting, and archiving are discussed.<
