Complexity and memory reduction for high-quality interlace video coding in H.264/AVC

We propose two techniques for an H.264/AVC hardware encoder, maximum three reference fields selection and restriction of the number of MC size based on picture coding type. The proposed method can reduce complexity by more than 40% and the amount of memory by 25% without visual degradation.
