New measurements of scintillating fibers coupled to multianode photomultipliers

The author measured the properties of two multianode photomultipliers (H4139 and XP4702) as photon detectors for scintillating fibers. In particular, the crosstalk between channels as a function of an axial magnetic field, as well as the gain in such a field was measured. The timing properties of such an array for minimum ionizing particles were determined. The results indicate that such a system can be used as a tracking detector in high rate environments.<
