Simulation and analysis of squirrel cage induction machines under rotor internal faults

A modeling and simulation study is presented to investigate the behavior of a squirrel cage induction motor under rotor internal faults. In this paper, a simple approach for modeling of induction machines under rotor internal faults (broken bar and broken end ring) is developed. This model is represented as a system of differential equations. The actual rotor structure is taken into account in this model. And a d-q model is used to describe the 3-phase symmetrical winding stator instead of phase model. Rotor fault is considered by a so-called connectivity matrix. Different matrices mean different faults. Simulation results are discussed in detail.
