Applying microprocessor-based protective relays in switchgear with AC control power

This paper discusses the issues that can exist when applying multifunction microprocessor-based protective relays in switchgear that has alternating current (ac) control voltage rather than a direct current (dc)-battery-based control bus. The paper recommends several techniques for overcoming these issues.
