Physical simulation power system laboratory

The authors introduce the newly completed power system simulation laboratory in the Energy Systems Research Center at the University of Texas at Arlington. This new and unique laboratory is a scaled-down three-phase physical model which correlates well with the important components of a real power system. Its configuration is sufficient to simulate significant system behaviour, such as transient and dynamic stability phenomena and all forms of steady-state operational phenomena. This physical model provides a unique opportunity for operator training as well as for validating digital simulation accuracy of each component.<
