Evaluating the user interfaces of an integrated system of in-car electronic devices

The Project54 system integrates electronic devices in police cruisers and provides a speech user interface and a GUI. It also incorporates the original user interfaces provided by the devices' manufacturers. We evaluate how the different interfaces are used by officers in the field and report on three lessons on designing in-car user interfaces.
