The effect of organical montmorillonite (O-MMT) on electrorheological properties of PMMA /SrTiO/sub 3/ composite particles

Synthesis strontium titanate (SrTiO/sub 3/)/ polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) composite particles and the effect of organical montmorillonite (O-MMT) modification on electrorheological properties of PMMA/SrTiO/sub 3/ composite particles were investigated. The formation and their morphological structures of SrTiO/sub 3//PMMA composite particles were confirmed by FT-IR and SEM. The composite particles and O-MMT modified SrTiO/sub 3//PMMA as two kinds of ER materials were dispersed into castor oil respectively. Electrorheological experiment revealed that O-MMT modified SrTiO/sub 3//PMMA possessed strong ER effect. Experimental results were explained by electrical properties and the microstructure of O-MMT and composite particles.
