Using a robot to test the strength of plastic molded components

An instrumented robot system to test the strength of plastic-molded components is described. This system tests the strength of plastic-molded components by measuring deflection, strain, stress relaxation, and fatigue. The system consists of two rectangular robots: one provides force by pushing and the other measures the deflection of the component being tested. How to measure strain using this system for a beam with a large deflection is shown. The results agree well with strain gauge measurements.<
