Use of the latest 421.5 standards for modeling today's excitation systems

Coincident with the latest draft of the IEEE standard 421.5 on "recommended practice for excitation system models for power system stability studies", there is a need for application guidelines for equipment presently being offered. This paper offers an overview of the systems presently being applied by GE using the EX2100/EX2000, to meet the market needs of new units and also retrofits to upgrade older units.
