Playback performance of ultra high capacity tape media with nanosized spherical metal particles (NanoCAP)

A nanosized spherical metal particle (NanoCAP) with a very high coercivity up to 3000 Oe was developed. Its high coercivity was attributed to its crystalline anisotropy. In this paper, a magnetic recording tape with NanoCAP was fabricated and evaluated with respect to its playback performance. The resulting NanoCAP coating media rendered an adequate signal to noise ratio (SNR) value and high resolution.
