Representation of sampled-data signals as functions of continuous time

It is shown that by representing sampled-data signals as functions of continuous time (as opposed to impulse trains and sequences), a simple and clear description becomes possible for systems in which the instants of sample occurrence are not synchronized among the various signals involved.
