Microwave imaging of cerebral edema

A microwave-transmission technique for detection and monitoring of cerebral edema is presented. It is shown by use of a head model that the microwave signal correlates with variable quantities of excess water. The technique is capable of detecting fluid-volume changes as low as 1 percent.
