Environmental management for rapid systems prototyping

As engineers make their way to complete and instant systems analysis, there are new conditions and criteria becoming clear for the design team's operating environment. System complexity demands, time to market issues and quality goals are forcing a rethinking of design processes, methodologies and paradigms. Relatively strong drives towards concurrent engineering and rapid systems prototyping are placing further demands on the tools and automation employed in design. These changes will force a reorientation from a tool to a process view in design automation systems. It will necessitate new supporting structures and applications to create, refine, analyze and decompose designs from high level abstractions to specific, detailed fabrication mechanisms through every step of the design process. These changes will drive the creation of a new automation infrastructure as well as changes in process, systems, and project management.<
