SAR approval requirements for mobile and portable transmitting equipment in Australia

Regulations limiting human exposure to radio frequency radiation now exist in many countries. In order to legally market mobile and portable transmitting equipment (MPTE) in Australia, manufacturers must comply with the provisions of the Australian Communications Authority regulations on electromagnetic radiation (EMR) and specific absorption rate (SAR). This work explains the Australian EMR and SAR standards, and the test procedures and administrative requirements to achieve compliance.
