Analysis of transient scattering from conducting surfaces using a modified time domain integral equation method

A modified time-domain integral equation (TDIE) method is proposed to calculate the transient electromagnetic scattering by arbitrary conducting objects. The method uses the Hertz potential instead of the magnetic vector potential which has unified forms that can apply to both free-space and layered media such as microstrip structures. Transient scattering from a specific target model and a microstrip line are analyzed using an implicit marching-on-in-time (IMOT) scheme. Numerical results are accurate and late-time instability is not observed.
