Nanostructured SnO/sub 2/ film for use as electrode material in sensors

Nanostructured Sb doped SnO/sub 2/ films were prepared by sol-gel technique on glass substrate, two doping levels were used. The morphological characteristics of the films were tested by optical-(OM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The electrical conductivity was investigated by sheet resistance measurements using the van der Pauw method. Sensors, prepared using these films, were tested as redox and pH electrodes. The experimental data show that the nanostructured Sb doped SnO/sub 2/ films may be used successfully as electrode material, opening up the perspective of replacing Pt in the construction of electrochemical biosensors.
