Applications of behavioral modeling and simulation on a lab-on-a-chip: micro-mixer and separation system

This work presents a behavioral modeling methodology and composable system simulation framework for electrokinetic lab on a chip (LOC), especially on the micro-mixing and electrophoretic separation systems, using an analog hardware description language (Verilog-A). The developed models describe not only the behavior of individual components, but also the interactions between them. Both DC and transient analysis are performed in the framework. The accuracy (relative error less than 5%) and tremendous speedup (10/spl sim/10,000/spl times/) of composable system simulations are verified by comparison to experiment and numerical studies.
