Meditation on metarnaterials in a monastery

The 10th international conference on complex media and metamaterials, “Bianisotropics 2004,” took place from September 22 to 24, 2004, in the beautiful medieval city of Ghent, in Flanders, Belgium. The meeting was held in the lo& halls of the Dominican monastery Het Pand. The monastery is presently owned by Ghent University and serves as a conference center, a faculty club, and a restaurant, and it also hosts part of the central university administration.
