Analysis of energy-band structure of 1D and 2D photonic crystals by the coupled wave method

In this paper the 2D photonic crystal is presented as some number of periodic reiteration of plane diffraction grating (stack of gratings). Computation of transmission of grating stack was conducted by the coupled wave method (CWM). The stable S-algorithm is used for computation.
