Requirements for automatic event analysis in substation automation systems

The paper analyzes the types of system events, available data sources and requirements for the development of hierarchical event analysis systems. The need for common record formats and configuration data are discussed. The importance of accurate time-synchronization and methods to achieve it is also described.
