Simultaneous noncontact fiber tension and diameter measurement using Fourier domain optical coherence tomography

The diameter and tension of an optical fiber are simultaneously measured using Fourier domain optical coherence tomography. This technique does not perturb the fiber and it may potentially be applied during the fiber draw process.
