Transient control study of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers for reconfigurable DWDM networks

Transient amplifier gain excursion of surviving channels due to dynamic wavelength add-drop should be kept below 1.5 dB to maintain data quality and receiver clock synchronization. This is experimentally demonstrated with 800 km-span of field deployed fiber network.
