A robot workstation for use in education of the physically handicapped

The possibility of using robotics in physical rehabilitation therapy has attracted much interest in the last few years; however, practical implementations are often restricted by cost and limitations of technology. A workstation that uses a low-cost commercial robot and a vision system is described. The workstation is specifically intended to investigate robots in special education and makes use of sensors and markers to reduce the physical and cognitive burden on the user.<
