Nested knowledge space model and awareness processing in the Web-based collaborative learning environment

In the collaborative learning environment, the rational learning navigation and flexible awareness processing must be provided. In this paper, the nested knowledge space model is presented including knowledge domain, four kinds of relations among them and knowledge space etc. Based on the model, the Web-based collaborative learning environment is established and the learning materials in the system are organized and managed, which can help the user to get his needed learning documents. To help the users to communicate and get rid of their "isdated feeling" in the CSCL system, the multilevel awareness processing model based on the nested knowledge space model is presented, in which there are two awareness methods: multi-levels awareness space method and customize monitor method. In addition, to filter the redundant information and protect the user's privacy, the information filter and privacy protector are provided.
