Scanning impedance of electromagnetically coupled rectangular microstrip patch arrays

The author presents a full wave integral equation analysis applied to infinite arrays of electromagnetically coupled rectangular microstrip patches. The spectral dyadic Green's function for an electric dipole source embedded in a two-layer grounded dielectric slab is used. A method of moments was applied to solve for the unknown current distribution on the patches. To validate the theory, experimental results from a waveguide simulator and an 11*11 array have been compared with computed results. The measured and computed scan impedance variations in E- and H-plane scans for the array are shown.<>
