The multichannel-remote sensing image signal based on wavelet frames and IHS transformation

The paper proposes a new fusion method. based on wavelet frame and IHS (intensity-hue-saturation) transformations for merging a high-resolution panchromatic image (PAN) and a low-resolution multispectral image (MSI). This method is developed by replacing the discrete wavelet transformation (DWT), which is combined with the IHS transformation in the existing fusion method, with a discrete wavelet frame (DWF) transformation whose decomposition depth is determined by the ratio of the total variation of PAN's approximate image to that of MSI's intensity image. The fusion images of test images show that this method is an improvement on other methods because of its lower color distortion and more smoothly fused image.
