A differential space-time transceiver for unknown time-dispersive multipath channels

This paper introduces a new space-time (ST) transceiver scheme for the reliable transmissions over the unknown frequency selective channels. The novelty of this scheme is in building into the transmitted symbol frame a unique circular structure so that (i) the inter-symbol-interference (ISI) effects could be mitigated using the algebraic processing and (ii) superior performance in the detection of the proposed signaling frame could be achieved. The new and low complexity transceiver is based on cyclic group codes and a non-coherent reception. It enables reliable detection when the time dispersive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel state information (CSI) is not available and it accommodates time varying channels.
