An embedded expert system for performance monitoring of process stations in a distributed process automation system

An embedded expert system for monitoring the performance of process stations in a distributed process automation system was developed. The system was realized using an expert system compiler that produces a set of C language modules. For small applications these tools seem adequate. This approach also guarantees ease of portability and embeddability and efficient execution. The expert systems at the process stations in this application, work independently and concentrate on only station-level performance problems. Further research is to be executed in the field of diagnosing the system level performance and capacity of the automation system.<
