Isolation enhancement of dual polarized L-probe coupled patch antenna arrays

A dual-polarized L-probe fed patch antenna with various ground plane dimensions and shapes were simulated. By putting the two flanges of the U-shaped ground plane in parallel to the E-plane (/spl phi/ - 90/spl deg/) and with suitable distance (0.21/spl lambda/) to the probe, good isolation can be obtained. Reducing the width of the ground plane to maintain the isolation bandwidth and increase the horizontal beamwidth to 75/spl deg/ is also investigated.
