Study of the backscattering coefficient and the interferometric coherence of mangrove forests

We propose to use a coherent model in order to compute the backscattering coefficient /spl sigma/ and the interferometric coherence /spl gamma/ of several stands of mangrove forests at P band. At this frequency, we may expect strong coherent effects reflecting the interactions between the ground and the forest scatterers. Simulation results are discussed: the different contributions are analyzed in order to quantify their impact on /spl sigma/ and /spl gamma/.
