Methods of energy conservation and management for commercial Li-ion battery packs of mobile phones

We have described the power system and the battery management for mobile phones used by NTT DoCoMo subscribers. We focus on the energy requirements of the phones' AC-adaptors, their power-management systems, and trend in energy consumption. Safety tests of new Li-ion batteries, quick tests assessing capacity deterioration, and lifetime predictions are also presented.
