On-line tuning of PID controllers

Relay based on-line automatic tuning method for PID controllers is presented in this paper. Based on the limit cycle measurements, an explicit process model is developed and then controller settings are re-tuned non-iteratively to achieve enhanced performance without disrupting closed-loop control.
