Solving high frequency problems using the magnetic vector potential with Lorentz gauge

The Lorentz gauge formulation is extended to solve the full set of Maxwell's equations, including displacement currents as well as volume currents. Problems involving lossy materials (including complex permittivity) can therefore be solved. The magnetic vector potential is chosen as the main variable since it can be made continuous, including over boundaries between different materials. This is a distinct advantage over field variables, which are discontinuous. In many other respects, the magnetic vector potential resembles the electric field vector very closely.<>
