Design of mixed-norm FIR filters using an unconstrained least-pth algorithm

Mixed-norm digital filter design methods provide the capability to design filters that have, for example, minimum deviation in the passbands (using the L/spl infin/ norm) and minimum broadband noise power in the stopbands (using the L/sub 2/ norm). Filters that trade off between these two extremes (e.g., L/sub 4/ norm) are also possible. The method presented here allows for the rapid design of mixed-norm FIR filters by using an unconstrained optimization method.
