Why triple DES with 128-bit key and not Rijndael should be AES

NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), USA has declared Rijndael as AES (Advance Encryption Standard). 15 algorithms were submitted to NlST out of which 5 qualified for the second round. Rijndael has been declared the safest algorithm of the world. Brute force attack requires more than 149 trillion years on a theoretical computer DES Cracker 2 which checks 2

keys in one second. This paper describes why triple DES with 128-bit key is a better option than Rijndael and why NET should choose it as AES. In this paper we have proposed 128-bit DES. We have also discussed the importance o f principles of "Confusion," "Diffusion" and "Avalanche Effect" and how we have implemented these in DES-128.
