A distributed call processing architecture for use within the intelligent network

A call model which provides a shared framework for both service design and a call processing architecture is described. Services and basic call functionality are presented as independent connection segments each of which can be viewed as a virtual switch. Connection segments can be chained together in various configurations to model the logical communication paths involved in a complete call.<
