High power solid-state switching

RADAR SYSTEMS offer numerous possibilities for the application of electronic switching of microwave power at high levels. The use of semiconductor control is desirable because of its inherent advantages such as small weight and size, low drive power, very fast switching, and stability of parameters with temperature or power for the PIN diode type. Usually, the achievement of high power capability, low insertion loss, and high isolation comprise the principal design challenges, and these will be discussed.
