A design technique for high order digital differentiators

A design technique for high-order digital differentiators is presented. The differentiators have linear phase and are maximally accurate. Their design is based on a minimization procedure for the integrated square error of the frequency response over designated approximation bands. The optimized design is formulated as a quadratic programming problem and the closed-form solution for the filter coefficients is presented. The inclusion of stopbands in the design process is discussed. Examples are included which demonstrate the effectiveness of the design technique.<
