It is emphasized that the surface wave generated by a dipole or line source along an infinite dielectric plane layer is represented definitely as Norton's surface wave type. Pertaining to this fact, is is stressed that the adoption of the residue term alone is insufficient in many cases especially when the case for a thin film is treated.
