Selection and standardization of network services, as well as standardization of interfaces between various parts of the networks, are considered. The various bodies involved in setting European standards in telecommunications and information technology are described. European standards for ISDN (integrated-services digital network) and standards for the Pan-European mobile communication system are examined.<
