Decomposition Algorithm for Radiation Characteristics Analysis of the «Antenna Array-Dielectric Radome» System

This paper presents a decomposition algorithm for calculating radiation characteristics of the «antenna array-dielectric radome» system. The decomposition involves independent modeling of the dielectric radome and antenna array with subsequent integration of the solutions. The algorithm is based on calculating the antenna array near-field and applying it as a radiation source for dielectric radome simulation. To ensure correct algorithm operation, either a full or a simplified antenna array model (represented as a conductive plane) should be included in the source region. The near-field can be calculated both for the entire antenna array and for each individual antenna element. In the case of separate calculation, it is possible to set the amplitude-phase distribution to the antenna elements ports and combine the resulting near-field sources. The developed algorithm was tested on a single antenna element, planar antenna array and three-dimensional antenna array configurations with different amplitude-phase distribution variations and simplified antenna arrays models. The results were compared with full-wave electromagnetic simulation. All obtained results show agreement, demonstrating that the developed algorithm enables effective calculation of «antenna array-dielectric radome» systems.
