Bounded peaking in the optimal linear regulator with cheap control

The optimal linear regulator for time-invariant systems is considered with cheap control, that is, with light weighting of the control energy. Conditions are found characterizing uniform boundedness of the state trajectories, and the results are interpreted in terms of the optimal root loci and the canonical form of the system description.
