Effects of voltage levels and transients at the point of utilization

Voltage-sensitive electronic equipment (such as personal computers, stereos, VCRs, and satellite dishes) is becoming increasingly common on utility systems. In addition, standard equipment such as dishwashers, washing machines, refrigerators, and the like are using microelectrics for control purposes. As a result, consumers are becoming more sensitive to power quality and utilities are faced with answering consumer complaints. Some voltage levels which should be maintained as well as the types of voltage transients a consumer might experience are given. A troubleshooting guide is also presented.<
