Traction to Auxiliary Power Transfer in Modular EV Drivetrain

This paper eliminates vehicular auxiliary power module hardware by introducing a novel traction to auxiliary (T2A) power transfer topology for modular multilevel converter (MMC) based electric vehicle (EV) drivetrain. Utilizing neutral connection to the motor and implementing carrier phase shift sinusoidal PWM, the proposed system integrates auxiliary power transfer functionality directly into modular drivetrain by leveraging zero sequence subcircuit. It does not affect dq-axis operation of the motor. Key components added in the proposed topology are passive, including compensation capacitor $\boldsymbol{C}_{\boldsymbol{r}}$, a diode bridge rectifier and filter capacitor $\boldsymbol{C}_{\boldsymbol{f}}$. Simulation results showcase traction to auxiliary (T2A) battery charging.
