A Joint Optical Plane-Rotation Axis Calibration Method Based on Line Laser Scanning

Modern 3D reconstruction techniques have been widely used in many fields such as industrial inspection, medical imaging, and cultural relics protection, among which laser 3D scanning technology has the advantage of high accuracy. In this study, an easy-to-implement joint optical plane-rotational axis calibration technique based on line laser rotary scanning is proposed, in which the optical plane and the rotational axis are synchronously calibrated by a set of photographs, the optimal optical plane is fitted by using SVD, and the rotational axis is determined by using the method of minimizing the residual, and the high-precision three-dimensional data acquisition is finally achieved. This technique not only improves the calibration accuracy, but is also simple and easy to implement, ensuring the reconstruction stability in different environments. Finally, three-dimensional laser scanning experiments were carried out on PE water pipes and vernier calipers, and this method is able to realize high-precision three-dimensional reconstruction with a relative error of measurement within 2%. This research provides a new reference for high-precision 3D reconstruction, which has important practical application value.
