An approach to coefficient wordlength reduction in digital filters

In this paper an approach to the problem of coefficient quantization in finite wordlength (FWL) digital filter implementations is presented. The method can be applied to any filter structure and can result in a saving of several bits with only a slight increase in hardware complexity.
