Numerical Study of Low-Index Contrast Integrated Optofluidic Bimodal Waveguide Sensor

In this work, we numerically study and assess the performance of a low-index contrast integrated bimodal waveg-uide (LIBiMW) sensor. The sensor is designed and simulated using the finite-difference time-domain method. The highest sensitivity was a 3.9% change in the normalized intensity for a refractive index change of $\triangle \mathrm{n}=0.0001$ units. This study will aid in the optimization of the designs for the fabrication of integrated optofluidic bimodal waveguide sensors.
